Stunning, and fascinating.  I don't know whether to be pleased as punch that
finally we have a gender-free form of discussion ... or whether we need to ask
people with ambiguous names to declare their sex ...

I've been reading Jan's posting for years and corresponding with him/her
directly on and off, and the question of gender never entered my mind.  Yet I
have two close friends with the name Jan -- one a female and the other a male
(but the male is clearly Dutch).

But also congratulations.  I've never detected a gender bias in your correspondence.
