Example: wage earner in the 48.5c tax bracket

tax on income:     48.5c on the dollar
with  medicare:    54c on the dollar (est.)
add GST:           64c on the dollar
add FIDs/Duties:   65 on the dollar

So, by the time I feed and clothe myself, I'm working with
about 35c out of every dollar I originally earned.
I know I'm mixing apples and oranges abit here (different
rate bases) but someone please poke a major in the
above figures before I move back to Canada on 1/7/2000!
