[LINK] SMH: Primus beats Telstra to the high-speed line

First is such a slippery term. By October last year, DSL was deployed over PAPLs
by Primus, OneTel, Global One, Magna Data, MUAnet and AAPT.
If there's something new other than the press release, it didn't make it to
print...if, for example, it was "the first DSL service operating over Telstra's
recently-declared customer access network," it would have been more accurate.

Primus beats Telstra to the high-speed line
The Sydney Morning Herald
By DAVID BRAUE
Primus Telecommunications has won the race to become the first Australian
phone company to launch a commercial data service based on high-speed
asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) technology.
Beginning today, Primus is providing high-speed ADSL connections to CBD
customers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and expects
to expand coverage to the rest of those metropolitan areas by the time
rival Telstra begins offering its own ADSL service in August.
