CRUMBLING COOKIE
Online ad company DoubleClick today unveiled various online privacy
initiatives
in an effort to appease privacy groups and head off a US Federal Trade
Commission
investigation. Using 50 million online banner ads and full pages in major
 newspapers, DoubleClick said it will  let Internet users block its cookies,
improve its  privacy practices and use PricewaterhouseCoopers to perform
privacy audits "so consumers can remain confident that we are living up to our
commitment." See
