Haha .. evolution? 

Dan ... it's indeed possible we could be looking at the IP over power lines
issue from the wrong perspective. For example, given that even household
appliances will soon be online, then, how better than through their power-line?

Maybe matchbox-sized servers, (http://matchbox.stanford.edu/cebit.html), and
developing technologies: ('Powerline technology is one of the focal points of this
year's CeBIT trade fair, with several consortia expected to present solutions') can
readily and reasonably cheaply IP-integrate anything live on power grids. Bandwidth
isn't an issue, it seems plug'n'play for consumers & imho maybe quite popular in future.
