I don't remember seeing any notification of my business information 
being used by third parties when completing the government ABN 
requirements. Apart from the flagrant abuse of privacy principles, 
think of the junk mail/calls  :-(

The Australian Government plans to sell database information 
collected through the compulsory submission of Australian Business 
Number applications, a Senate committee has been told.

It is understood the sale of ABN data - which includes such details 
as e-mail and postal addresses, tax numbers, number of employees, 
industry sector and banking partner - is to be arranged through the 
private sector at an expected bulk-purchase rate of $20 per business 
number.
