Asimov had one about a self aware robot that refused to believe that men 
had built it (as they were obviously inferior) - kind of fits in with the 
theory that such a global being may treat us as a nuisance/threat.

The other old classic on this theme of course would name this global entity 
"the beast" and only give us "666" access at the terminal.
