..which will, of course, lead to a world in which:
1) ISPs will be asked by government to install cyber-filters in their networks
to ensure that banned publications aren't being e-distributed and e-read;
2) They will also be asked by big publishers to install technology to prevent
any of their users redistributing e-books in Gnutella-like peer arrangements;
and
3) People carrying paper will be assumed to be involved either in subversive
activities or in content piracy.
The things we'll tolerate just to make sure we're as cool as someone else.

I predict that within 5 years we will see the start of books becoming
totally independent of paper - there will be widespread electronic access,
including mobile, re-chargable or storable e-books that 'feel' like books,
that you can read in bed, but probably with the ability to adjust the font
size and internal lighting.
