Sets Royalty Rate Wired Random House becomes the first major
publisher to deal with an issue debated between publishers, authors
and agents for the last year, when it announced it will raise the
royalty rate on electronic books from 15 percent of the cover price
to 50 percent of net revenues. "The old (pricing) model had different
incentives for the publisher and author, and we could sometimes end
up in conflict," said Erik Engstrom, president and chief operating
officer of Random House. "If we do it this way, we have exactly the
same economic incentives"

people must act to secure a government that will. The dignity and
self esteem of Australia at some point will demand it."
