THE FUTURE ACCORDING TO BILL
Microsoft founder Bill Gates opened Comdex today with a long talk on the
behemoth's .Net strategy to use open Internet standards rather than
Windows-style systems as a platform for all devices. The Chief Software
Architect outlined a vision for the next generation of the Internet, in which
services are built around Extensible Markup Language and other standard
technologies. See

He also demonstrated Microsoft's Tablet PC, a full PC with a screen on which
you can write notes. Neat, though you wonít see it for a while, as usual. See
