A request. My daughter Alex <http://www.lisp.com.au/~billd/alex/> is
nomadic and spends approx. nine months of each year wandering around in far
away places with strange sounding names.
Alex is heading off again within the next eight weeks and wants to take a
laptop with her. I went with her to <http://www.microseconds.com.au> in
Broadway to have a look at second hand ibooks - I'm a Mac user. I thought
the prices reasonable but have since been reading the literature and now
have some doubts about the suitability of this machine.
Alex leans toward a Toshiba, a view that I think has some merit. Whatever,
the machine will need plenty of ram, a large hard disk, the ability to cope
with phone systems of dubious quality, and rugged enough to be carted up
and down mountains.
Any suggestions? And any suggestions on where second hand laptops can be
purchased at a good price?
