I too am running a list server, and second Tony's comment it's no big
deal ... running the server, that is.
The fun stuff starts when someone has to deal with all the subscribers --
people asking how to subscriber or post, people demanding to be taken off
the list RIGHT NOW, people that don't know how to spell unsubscribe,
people who change their email address, people who don't know they've
changed their email address, and so on. Then there are also the bounces,
including bounces that don't indicate which address is bouncing, or
indicate a different address, and then there are the bounces which are
false bounces.
Running the server is the easy bit. You do have to watch out for
bandwidth though ... my lists are generating about 2 gigabytes per month,
and they are not particularly big or noisy.
