I don't think hunter/food gatherer societies, which is what we were 
for at least 90% of the time since we evolved, would have regarded 
material property as a natural right. You made the gadget/tool when 
you needed it and it often didn't last long. The idea of property 
comes with a settled existence from agriculture when you start 
needing lots of gadgets.
