[LINK] New australian innovation research and policy centre

I find this very interesting.  The area of innovation is being handled from 
a totally utilitarian view. I hope the professor who is running it at ANU 
will at least consider that much can be learned from the creativity and 
expression learned in the arts.  I wonder how they will address the mix of 
personal styles between the creative person and the commercial person.  Any 
linkers involved in this effort?

It also sounds like they have an idea that research and development across 
various subject disciplines will lead to better? more? more commercial? 
outcomes.  Given the stovepipe arrangements of the faculties in most 
Research Universities, it will be interesting to see if they look at the 
value of interdisciplinary development, something that has not been part of 
the Australian higher education culture.
