Hi all
A story from the The Register, mainly on ICRA and including one
reference to Australia, and another on a new tool designed to protect
children form exploitation online.
Cheers
David
Is this the man that will make it safe for kids to surf the Net? (The
Register)
The issue of making the Internet safe for kids has become a bigger
one as the Web becomes ever more ubiquitous. On the one end we have
the freedom of speech activists opposed to any control, on the other
the Australian government trying to pass a law that makes it illegal
to post anything not suitable for a child to view. And in between
concerned parents and a whole range of schools, governments and TV
presenters.

New tool to protect children from Net exploitation (Yahoo News)
A new Internet tool developed to aid the fight against child
exploitation on the Internet has been unveiled on Thursday by Glasgow
University.
The Internet platform Net-Enforce (http://www.net-enforce.net),
developed by the Centre for Europe's Children at the University of
Glasgow, enables police forces and children's charities to trade
criminal intelligence more quickly. It offers a secure access area
for law enforcement authorities, immigration services and charities
to exchange and communicate information on Net predators immediately
in an attempt to reach the perpetrator before a child is sexually
exploited.
