Howard, that hurt. 

The server now seems to be out of action, at least ping says "host
unreachable" and traceroute never gets past a connect.com router in
Melbourne.

But: I'm still observing really slow performance from St George Bank as
well. Something seems to be misbehaving "out there". Any ideas?
