Further to Robert's excellent rendition, I'm in a similar position.

I put a Copyright Notice on (almost) everything on my sites.

In effect, I assert my rights, *but* grant a licence automatically
for not-for-profit use, *provided that* a specified set of conditions
is satisfied.

Many people overlook it. Some ignore it. But a moderate number each
year contact me to get a clarification or negotiate a licence.

The Notice is at:
http://www.anu.edu.au/people/Roger.Clarke/CNotice.html

If you like it, and want to use it, you'll see that I carefully did
*not* assert copyright in the contents of the Copyright Notice
itself, but instead permitted it to pass into the public domain.

Now: I wonder if I should have made the Copyright Notice subject to
an 'open content' copyright licence ...
