if security/confidentiality is a concern then it's better to physically
destroy the drives and sell the machines diskless (or with a new drive).
the drives are a small loss....by the time a machine is old enough to
sell, the drives are truly ancient - tiny & slow & noisy....and probably
not far from dying anyway.
