Dear Linkers,

Vision Australia Foundation will be running an all-day Web Accessibility
workshop in Brisbane on Wednesday 5 December 2001 at QUT's
Gardens Point campus.

This workshop will provide participants with a thorough overview of
accessibility issues in terms of Australian policy contexts and
internationally recognised requirements, including the Online Council's
adoption of the World Wide Web Consortium's Content Accessibility
Guidelines.

The morning session provides the broad overview. It will concentrate on the
whys and wherefores of web accessibility, demonstrating the issues and
solutions. The issues confronting users with particular needs will also be
explored, including people from rural Australia, people with disabilities
and older people.

The afternoon session provides an in-depth look at particular accessibility
issues, with an emphasis on techniques and assessment tools.

Participants in this workshop will be able to see and hear how different
sites appear to people using assistive technology and people facing
bandwidth limitations. Relevant international guidelines and other reference
material will be distributed.

Full details, including registration forms and costs, are available from
