John Howard was asked on the ABC about this. He said that he knew nothing
about it, he had only been told half an hour earlier. He did say that he
was sure that those who had made the decision would not have overlooked
such a problem.

If there is one thing about the present government that has really annoyed
me it's their outstanding lack of competence. They defend their mistakes by
saying that the policy was needed or was good. Unfortunately, having
stuffed up so many things in the implementation, their policies are almost
irrelevant.
