Web Bug Standards Program Announced

PR Newswire: October 4, 2001. The Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) is
starting a program that will develop industry standards for the use of web
beacons, aka "web bugs." The Executive Director of the NAI reports web
beacons, which deliver cookies in a third party context, are critical in
effective online advertising but standards must be used so they do not
infringe on consumer privacy.
