[LINK] Expiry Date on .com.au Registrations

Roger,

It might be worthwhile checking who the name is currently registered with 
as well.
Based on recent discussions on other lists, I suspect that the renewal 
notice you received was from Internet Registrations Australia, not Internet 
Names Australia.

There has been  quite a bit of discusion about this on the oz-ISP and AUDA 
lists. This includes discussion about the possibly misleading use of 
"renewal" on what at first glance appears to be an invoice. Some people 
were concerned that their accounts department might pay this 
"invoice"  (the letter states that a tax invoice will be sent out once 
you've paid) before checking that they were in fact registered through them 
now, and before checking around to see what sorts of prices are available.

The other concern people on oz-ISP had was that the "invoice" offered 
renewal options of up to 10 years, but currently .com.au is only able to be 
renewed for 2 years.

There have been people claiming to have received renewal notices for 
domains registered only a few weeks ago, as well as domains that expired 
years ago...
