Greetings LINK,
Below is a note to my DO-WIRE list about my upcoming visit to Australia.
This will be a very quick visit this time, but I hope to connect with many
of you. Please read on and join my contact e-mail list for updates on my
"just-in-time" organized trip: do-au-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Cheers,
Steven Clift

P.S. Anything interesting with your elections and the Internet? The UK 2001
election built on the U.S. 2000 online election season. What innovations
can the rest of the world import from Australia now that you've had two
Internet-filled elections to learn from? E-mail me: clift@publicus.net
Democracies Online - Steven Clift in New Zealand/Australia - Nov 2001
In November I am off on another e-democracy adventure. This time to New
Zealand and Australia. I am interested in learning about innovative
community, governance, or political online projects from the local level
on up in those countries. What do you know about? E-mail:
clift@publicus.net
** New Zealand
If you would like to connect with me in New Zealand, please join my
NZ contact e-mail list: do-nz-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
I will spend most of my public time in Christchurch from November 19 -
22, 2001. I'll be speaking at the SmartNet conference that week
<http://www.smartnet.co.nz> (they made this trip possible, thank you) and
be meeting with city leaders and civic groups.
As part of a north to south campervan experience, on Friday,
November 9, I will stop in Wellington where a post-work Internet and
politics gathering could certainly be in order. Coffee breaks or short
stops elsewhere are not out of the question. If you do not join the
contact e-mail list I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to e-mail all
interest parties once on the road - so please join.
** Australia
In you would like to connect in Australia with me (or others
interested in democracy and the Internet in Australia), please join
my AU contact e-mail list: do-au-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Melbourne - November 23, 26
Canberra - November 27, 28
Brisbane - November 29, 30
In all three cities I'd like to participate in informal discussions
among citizens and civic groups about the establishment of local
online discussion forums for city-wide discussions based on
E-Democracy's e-mail model <http://e-democracy.org/do/commons.html>. In
both New Zealand and Australia I am interested in working with people
ready to start (or learn about existing efforts) interactive community
issues online discussion forums. Less talk. More action.
I have a slew of government meetings in Canberra and Brisbane, but
will have time for a few side meetings. Melbourne is still taking
shape. This will be a quick "just-in-time" sort of visit, so be sure to
join my contact e-mail list and e-mail me (again if necessary) if you'd
like meet in any of the listed cities (my city schedule is set).
Sincerely,
Steven Clift
