I currently have hart.wattle.id.au that I registered back in 1997. I'd
be happy to be involved in any activity aimed at getting auDA to change
its mind on its charging policy.
It strikes me that making it prohibitively expensive to 'own' a domain
is just part of the failure of understanding about the personal use of
the Internet - like the issue of pricing of broadband and the
prohibition of servers on 'consumer' broadband connections.
If we are to be the smart country, knowledge nation or whatever the
pollies decide is the current vote winner, we need as FEW barriers to
individual entry as possible.
I can see no justification for auDA's charging regime for id or asn
domains...is there an official statement from them that gives their
reasons for this?
