I have one of those names that gives it away every time - I get all kinds
of pronunciations of Whitaker. I wonder how people with non-Anglo names
feel about the probable mispronunciations and stumblings on their
names? Makes me think of the teacher on the first day of school in a
highly ethnic school.

Then there is the Mrs. giveaway. Either of these set off my negative alarm
bells and my first reply is what are you selling? Sometimes I get:
nothing, we want to give you something, for only $19.95 you can
have....etc. My next level of blood pressure follows with how they can lie
so easily by saying they aren't selling anything and yet are asking for
money? The click [or bang] in their ear follows shortly after.
