Linkers,
today is my last day at Excite@Home.
I got the tap on the shoulder along with all but 3 others in our team
in spite of denials to the contrary by spin doctors at the parent
company.
Expect the QoS of the current setup to drop accordingly as it is taken
over by semi trained monkeys.
I now accept redundancy as my fate in this world of economic rationalism,
global economies and "efficiencies and bottom lines".
I take heart in the fact that Excite@Home (In Australia anyway) was
anything but a tech-wreck or a dotcom-bomb. In fact we've been
consistently winning awards and accolades all over the place
and I know we all did our best to make the company work.
The truth is Optus never liked it's JV partner and couldn't wait to
put a stake through it's heart. This is obvious in the callous and
short sighted way it's treated all the staff here who are singly and
collectively an extremely competant and very talented bunch.
I'll continue to be a Link subscriber and will be involved as much
as I always have. I won't have too much else to do during the day
in between Jerry Springer and looking for a new job.
BTW, does anyone need a UNIX Admin? :) ;)
