Are you interested in presenting a paper at Information Online in
January 2003? Here is the Call for Papers that is now being
distributed and advertised.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Deadline 30 April 2002
Information Online is the leading conference and exhibition for the
online information industry in the Asia Pacific region. Information
Online 2003 will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition
Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia from the 21st - 23rd January
2003.
Information Online 2003 will provide a forum for over 1000 Australian
and international information professionals and others, to exchange
information and to explore new developments and major topics relating to
online and multimedia information and communications, including
information available via the Internet, Intranets and Information
Portals.
We invite Librarians and Information Professionals (including Knowledge
Managers, Records Managers, Archivists, IT Managers, Consultants,
Marketing and HR managers) from both the private and public sectors, in
Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring countries in the Asia Pacific
area, to participate in the Information Online 2003 conference.
Over 100 leading Australian and international vendors will promote
online, Internet, web management tools, electronic databases and
resources, knowledge and content management solutions, as well as
library management systems, in the enlarged Information Online 2003
exhibition.
We are calling for innovative, practical and research papers, as well as
case studies on all aspects of the electronic information and multimedia
environment. Generally presentations will last for 20 minutes, with 10
minutes for questions. Some panel discussions are planned.
We are especially interested in:
· STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF ONLINE INFORMATION ASSETS
e.g. business information portals; adding value for users; business,
competitive and security intelligence online; Return on Investment (ROI)
in information resources; knowledge management in an online
environment.
· VIRTUAL REFERENCE
e.g. 24 x 7 services; using call centre technology; human vs machine.
· NEW TECHNOLOGY AND USABILITY
e.g. evaluation tools; testing; web design assessments; portal
software evaluations; WAP, VoIP and other acronyms; information
architectures and taxonomies; managing access through firewalls;
security, authentication.
· CONTENT MANAGEMENT
e.g. integration; mapping; BLOGS digital collections; intellectual
property, copyright, licensing, digital rights; partnering, consortia;
privacy, evaluative comparisons of databases; Australian, New Zealand
and Asia-Pacific online resources.
· ONLINE INFORMATION LITERACY
e.g, from classroom to lecture theatre, in companies, government,
professional firms and the community; training library clients to be
literate in online information; e-learning.
· EDUCATING INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS FOR AN ONLINE WORLD
e.g. evaluative comparisons of search engines; cost management and
cost recovery; strategic management of resources; navigating the
Invisible Web; standards.
· E-LEARNING AND E-LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Speaker benefits
A free day registration on the day the paper is presented will be
provided for one presenter per paper. Day registration includes
conference attendance on the day the paper is presented, entrance to the
exhibition, lunch and refreshments.

The author grants permission to the ALIA Information Specialists Group
to publish the paper.
Form of proposals
The Program Committee requires an abstract of your paper with sufficient
detail to allow the Committee to make a selection.
· Author(s) and presenter(s) name(s), position(s), organisation(s),
postal, e-mail and URL addresses, telephone and FAX numbers
· Biographical sketch of up to 100 words
· Paper title and abstract of up to 100 words
· The papers are to be original papers that have not been published,
accepted for publication or presented at other conferences.
· Papers which are primarily advertisements will not be accepted
Please note that acceptance of proposals will be at the discretion of
the Program Committee.
