If you're up to ignoring the slashdot background noise, there's an
interesting debate emerging about a proposal to create an emergency priority
status flag in the IETF.

There are some interesting points at issue - for eg, if a "get out of the
way" flag can be set in a packet, what's to stop it being misused? How can
the router policies be enforced? Is it feasible at all?
Certainly the Iprep working group has one of the leading lights of the 'net
in Scott Bradner sitting as an advisor; and Cisco as the chair means the
proposal wouldn't get up unless it is technically feasible. But I wonder
whether it will turn out to be worth the effort...
