the DOCITA media release says

"Another important finding of the ABS was that the gap between regional and
metropolitan areas is still minimal-with business use of the Internet
growing at a similar rate outside of the capital cities-35% in capital
cities and 31.5% growth outside of capital cities (with penetration of
Internet use at 71% and 65% respectively). "

i'd be very interested to find out exactly WHERE the smes outside capital
cities who are using the net for business are located & what they are using
the net for.

my own experience of regional, rural & remote oz is that most businesses
don't understand how to use the net for business. they use it when they are
FORCED to like using it for banking when the local branch closes. yes, many
have web sites but that is because the local snake oil merchant has told
them they HAVE to have a web site. they get a minimal site for prices that
would be laughably exorbitant in the city.
