Thanks, Ian. I'm finishing a paper on ENUM, for posting to link
shortly; and I didn't have these gems available to me.

Note that a Site-Search on ACIF with the string 'enum' *still*
returns zero hits, after several years of activity in this
ultra-secretive, pseudo-consultative, public interest-excluding
industry association. FOG is an *excellent* term for it.

I'm only a very small god in matters technical, but the following
statements in the second of the two files above (which is PowerPoint
slides expressed in PDF) give me pause to be concerned about the
writer's grasp of the topic:

Slide 4, Bullet 3
The correct operation of the DNS is essential for the operation of
the Internet.

Slide 5, Bullet 2
[By implication, in every case] A request for information goes to the
root server for the domain (.au in [the case of www.acif.org.au])

Back to school, fellers ...

With the bumbling incompetence typical of this lot, there appear to
be no email-addresses anywhere. Ian, if you know where these jokers
are hiding, please feel free to pass my scathing comments on to them.
Maybe there's an explanation somewhere that will cause me to
apologise; but I'm not feeling particularly insecure right now ...
