Microsoft discloses critical Web flaw
November 21 2002
A critical flaw in a component which is common to Microsoft Web servers and 
Internet Explorer allows an attacker to take over a Web server, spread an 
email virus or create a network worm which could spread rapidly.
The flaw is present in Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC), a 
collection of components which provide database connectivity on Windows 
platforms. MDAC is likely to be present on most Windows systems.
