lobbying its own members to change their buying habits?

"The association representing information technology professionals in
Australia says the industry's trade deficit is becoming unmanageable.

The Australian Computer Society says the trade deficit for IT products
and
services was almost $14.5 billion last financial year and will grow to
$27.2 billion by the end of the decade.

The society's immediate past president, John Ridge, says the cost is not
sustainable.

"We don't need to sustain or incur that amount of costs because we're
more
than capable of producing our own IT goods and services, to not only
replace some of the imported products but also result in an export
industry which would have a doubly beneficial effect," he said."

<hfl>  It's a pity they don't say how much of that trade deficit is the
result of licence fees to just one company.  Surely they must have the
figures to support their claims.
