I run both majordomo and mailman at various sites, and I too want to
convert the majordomo sites to mailman, but I haven't yet worked out how
to convert the archives.  If you sus out the howto, would you fill me in
pse :).

As for configuring mailman, it is very intuitive.  I suggest that you grab
the majordomo subscriber list and just cut & paste it into the bulk
subscription facility of mailman.
