The Knut/Canute and Waves incident is probably misreported anyhow ... it's
likely that a pagan kingship ceremony involved symbolically getting the okay
from a water god(ess); and that later Catholic propagandists rewrote the
tale either (a) from misreading a picture ["Look at this pagain idiot,
trying to turn back the tide!"] or (b) as deliberate denigration of Norse
religious belief...
