i wonder if people might be referring to an experience i had when buying
from dstore.

i ordered a catalogue item for 'standard' delivery. i paid by amex. after 2
weeks with no merchandise i tried emailing them. there was no phone number
on the web site.

after several weeks i was told the item was out of stock, not to be
repurchased and they would refund my credit card transaction.

why did i wait so long? i really did want the item i'd purchased. i'd
attended a presentation by the dstore manager & he seemed a guy who was
really trying to establish an e-company.

the item was presented on my amex bill. i deducted the amount from my
payment and wrote a letter with the reason. i got a note from amex saying
they'd have to verify that the merchant hadn't sent me the goods. (if i (v
rarely) ask for a normal transaction to be cancelled amex usually suspend
then investigate but on this occasion they didn't do that.

eventually i got a credit on my amex bill but it took quite a while.

peace
