I'm not sure that link has ever had much in the way of postings about
the Oxford Internet Institute.

I visited Bill Dutton (the Director) a couple of years ago, trying to
convince him that OII needs to embed adequate technological
understanding within the organisation, to ensure that the social,
economic and political theorising is well-founded. We had a pleasant
chat; but my key message was unwelcome.

As far as I can see, a single person has any technical background at
all (Paul Jeffreys, Director of the Oxford University Computing
Services, and of the Oxford University e-Science Centre); but he
only serves on the Management Committee.

It's great that Ted Nelson's (finally!) been invited to participate
(Latest News, 25 Feb 2004). But I fear he's going to find an
organisation with a fairly shallow grasp of what the underlying
technologies do, and, very importantly, don't do.
