Even the distopian view of technology an a priori view that the product can
do anything and everything...
The "hoax", BTW, wasn't a hoax as such. It was a satire; the "hoax" was
self-basting...
It even had an implanted screaming howler of non-technology as a really
broad hint ...
"It is used to implant a GPS-microchip in the body of a human being, using a
high powered sniper rifle as the long distance injector."

Do I really have to slice Gilmore's silliness up?

Three words for Mr Gilmore: "inverse square law". Or as Scottie would put
it, ye canna change the laws of physics, Cap'n! [The inventor of
"homeostatic projectiles" (as he called them), Philip K Dick, had just about
enough science to work a light switch; his genius was not physics, but
metaphysics.]

Too much experience with software, too little with physics.
Roger, I know I sound like a zealot; but these views do irreperable harm to
the business of opposing the misuse of RFID (which I do). I don't mind
putting it in pigs; I object to putting it in shirts.
But when the "thought leaders" base their case on this sort of stuff - well,
it's like taping a "kick me" sign to their own backs. Hyperbole is not a
legitimate means to recruit public opinion...
