I wonder the same about Yamaha.  The AW4416 digital sound desk and recorder 
has a panel that covers the EJECT button of the CDRW drive.  I was tempted 
to cut a hole in the plate, but then realised every drive has a button in a 
different position and if I change the drive, I'm stuffed.

Maybe that's why Apple partially decided the same thing.
