Oh I can just see how Antony Barry Systems Engineering (locations in
Canberra and ... well, Canberra) will be received on the next FDA systems
upgrade contract. "Look here's a nobody from nowhere, shall we give them the
bid? Sure."
There seems to be an assumption that exporting services is like exporting
widgets; only the most ignorant could believe it. The cost of assembling a
bid to one contract in that $76Bn market is more than an Australian IT
company could pay. Take (for eg) Kaz, as one of the bigger local players: do
we really think it's got $100 million to spare on the justin that it might
get to stage two of the bid?
I guess it's more succinct to say: covert barriers to entry are more
important here.
