almost all molested kids are abused by one or more members of their families,
and/or close friends of the family - NOT by strangers, and NOT by online
menaces.
online perverts do exist, but they are the rare exception....and since they
don't actually have physical access to the kids, the risk of them doing any
real harm is negligible.....the worst they can do is say disturbing things and
show disturbing pictures. not pleasant, but hardly life-threatening...and any
mentally healthy kid will get over it fairly quickly.

ps: i sometimes suspect that the reason you hear so much about online and other
stranger perverts rather than the far more numerous known-to-the-victim
perverts is that our society isn't willing to admit that there are serious
problems with the concept of the isolated nuclear family....nuclear families
CAN work, but the odds are stacked against them.
