This point was brought up in discussion of the Fairfax/Telstra 
deal.  Evidently, Sensis is the money making part of the business [Yellow 
Pages; through over charging for putting in ads].  But since you can find 
most services easier on the net, along with more information besides the 
address and phone number, people are changing their behaviours to use the 
net instead of the directory.  Hence Telstra is seeing an even greater 
pressure on their revenue.

Fairfax is finding the same with classifieds, its most profitable 
business.  But as we have seen in the job ads statistics reporting, where 
Online Job ads is winning, Fairfax was looking for a strategy to keep 
making that money.  The connection with Yellow pages and their classifieds 
online was the concept and supposedly the motivator for the discussions.

In a word:  convergence.   :-)
