The Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) invites public
comment on a draft Australian Standard that has been released for a 60
day public comment period - i.e.

* DR AS/ACIF S003 Customer Access Equipment for connection to a
Telecommunications Network Australian Standard

The Draft Australia Standard proposes changes to the definitions and
clauses of AS/ACIF S003:2001 relating to extensions and tie lines to
address the problem with the application of the Standard to secondary
ports on broadband equipment deployed on the customer side of the
network boundary.

A full revision of the requirements of AS/ACIF S003 to accommodate other
than circuit switched technology (e.g. Customer Equipment employing IP
and packet-based technology) will be the subject of a second-phase
review of the Standard and will be started during the 60-day public
comment period of this revision.

It is intended that there will be no overlap period in the application
of this revision of the Standard with that of the previous edition of
the Standard in the ACA's Telecommunications Labelling Notice.
