Speaking of ADSL, here's my latest experience. applied through
aanet.com.au who applied to Telstra for a line check. Rather quickly they
advise there is no alternate path, am out of luck until 2011. [that is what
they put if there is no hope]. The 'demand' page [www.telstra.com/demand]
where you can advise you can't get service says my exchange is enabled, so
I can't register my demand. Wrote again to aanet.com.au for advice. Got a
nice phone call suggesting that I apply for a second phone line, all
copper, and then drop my current line: cost in the hundreds of
dollars. I'm not that sold on the need for ADSL, so won't take that
approach. Also wrote a note to a contact at the TIO to ask advice, no
answer from her so far.

Jan
who is one of the 15% with no hope of ADSL at the moment, living about
35min from the Melbourne CBD.
