And don't forget IITF - Information Industries Task Force, at least I
think that was the acronym; which was part of Dept of Industry and
things. That was a predecessor to what become part of NOIE, and is
about to become a part of DCITA called, as Jan said, Ozzie, Ozzie,
Ozzie, OIE, OIE, OIE.

Re DCITA.AGIMO/NOIE/OGO/OGIT, there was no *formal* predecessor to OGIT.

There was a committee, IESC - Information Exchange Steering
Committee, which was chaired by Pat Barrett in his then role as a Dep
Sec in DoF. DoF provided some IT consultancy services in those days,
and generally had a reasonable ability to impose 'moral suasion' on
agencies. That was c. 1980-1990. (Pat's shortly to retire from his
6 or so years as Auditor-General).

Prior to that, of course, there was the Public Service Board, which
had coordinative and some audit and review roles. But that was back
when the computer industry was young, and so was I.

Well, Tom, you asked. Can I have my PhD now please?
