Hi Ash,
Clause i) of the Warranty: "This product is not guaranteed against
compatibility, connectivity or ability of the product other then with
the original supplied operating system."
Though as I said, this wasn't tested but it was suggested that as I had
the license I might as well have the software running. The laptop manual
ofcourse is based on XP.
This may change overtime. I recall the debate between CPM/MSDOS early
80s. MSOffice vs Lotus, Wordperfect... in the late 80s. Who knows what
the outcome will be of XP vs Linux in 2004.
Regarding the license, I registered when I first got my laptop in
November 03. Then in the process of partitioning my disk and installing
linux (in December 03/January04), I had to reinstall XP. I discovered
the previous registration key wouldn't work and I would need to call
again. At this point I decided to delete XP.
It has now struck me that if I was relying on XP and I did have to
restore the system from CD in a couple of years time, would I again need
to register and would this be possible.
I doubt the call centre is really in Banglore - it is probably too
expensive to have one there these days. Was the call centre in N Sydney
personned 7x24 or was it part of a network?
