I wonder if Elena was inspired by Karl Schroeder's scifi short story
called The Dragon of Pripyat written in 1999? A strange tale of
Chernobyl 'terrorism' - the story starts with the protagonist
riding his motorbike through the streets of Chernobyl with a geiger
counter looking for signs of life...
Ironically I read it only a week or so ago...
