Um, I MEANT to say...

Ah yes, a very good analogy. It took me a while to work out why it 
wasn't quite the same thing...

For the mail re-direction, you have to supply identification which 
shows that the new address is still "yours". So really you're just 
providing a mechanism for ensuring that Alice's letter still reaches 
Bob when Bob moves, and his original physical location is now 
occupied by Eve.

*sigh* More speed, less haste...
