[LINK] AGD call for submissions to Review of Telec Interception Act

In December when the Telec Interception Act was amended to exclude 'stored 
communications' (i.e. email, SMS, voice mail), the A-G undertook to 
conduct a full review of the Act within 12 months (i.e. before the 
amendments expire via sunset clause in Dec 2005).

That review has now been announced and submissions have been invited by 
Fri 6 May 2005. Details at:

The Interception Act, while maintaining its application through the use of 
technology neutral concepts, is arguably in need of substantial revision 
having regard to the impact of developments in telecommunications 
technology. ..."
