I notice that this thread has degenerated into yet another of those
ideology-fueled arguments where one side is entrenched in a "private sector
good, public service bad" stance and the other is equally entrenched in
"private sector corrupt, public sector inefficient". Or something similar.

 1. We've seen it all before. A lot. Please just provide URLs back
to the relevant parts of the Link archives and move on.

 2. Since the viewpoints are so deeply entrenched, why bother
trying to convert your opposition? Or is it just unwillingness
to let someone else have the last word?

 3. Where do you find the time to write at such length? Though I
do guess it's quicker to write something when one doesn't take
the time to attempt to listen to and understand the other's
point of view, but instead respond to what you *believe* the
    other person believes.

 4. I really do wish the world was as simple and black-and-white
as these entrenched viewpoints make out. And I really wish I
could be so goddam sure that my own beliefs were always 100%
correct. It'd be so much simpler. Sadly, I notice shades of
grey from time to time, and sometimes I'm troubled by
    uncertainty.

"See the horse? It's dead. Here's a whip."

Happy Friday, everyone.
