Please try to differentiate between what I wrote and what the good Mr
Schneier wrote.
While I don't mind being confused with Bruce Schneier -- he's an intelligent
man who writes clearly without making personal attacks -- I didn't actually
"drama queen" (whatever that means) the issue. I simply said "Here's an
interesting article", and asked how Australia compares.
What's then happened is that people have been branded as "crazy" for even
caring about the issue. That's disgusting. That's bullying.
To pick the specific example of voicemail, all Schneier is saying (as I read
it) is that the voicemail that used to be on your answering machine on your
home is now on a server in a telephone company -- which puts it in a
different legal realm. He's then suggesting that we should ensure that the
laws covering this private information work the way we want them to.
If asking for the laws to reflect our wishes as a community is "drama
queening", hell, pass me the frock now!
